I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, but . . . .

As happy as I am to see New Jersey's criminal penalties for small level drug possession be eliminated, I'd rather see all penalties be eliminated altogether - especially considering the statements made by lawmakers.  In reducing the penalties for small amounts of marijuana to a small civil fine, Assemblyman Michael Patrick Carroll stated, ""Some acts harm society, and they warrant the intervention of police, prosecutors, and perhaps even incarceration. Other acts warrant, at best, a spanking.  The harm to society, if it exists at all, is de minimis" in these possession cases.

An adult shouldn't be subject to a spanking by the state, no matter how light, for doing something that doesn't harm anyone.  Period.

About time!

Though I think that rock & roll has done well in the face of changing technologies - and the electric guitar is unique in its ability to give a frustrated kid a loud way to be expressive - a new paradigm is long over due.

One good thing about Philly: it's great place to to be a junk food vegetarian

this article focuses on upscale options, but there are alot of solid downscale options, too.  blackbird pizza makes the best fake-steak sandwich.  there's a cup cake bakery in norther liberties.  and of course, grindcore house in south philly.  they're all great places to get some guilty pleasure food without the guilt of meat.
